FAQs

Visiting the dentist regularly will not only help keep your teeth and mouth healthy but will also help keep the rest of your body healthy. Dental care is important because it:

  • Helps prevent tooth decay
  • Protects against periodontal (gum) disease, which can lead to tooth and bone loss
  • Prevents bad breath – brushing, flossing, and seeing the dentist regularly will help reduce the amount of bacteria in your mouth that causes bad breath
  • Gives you a more attractive smile and increases your self-confidence
  • Helps keep teeth looking bright by preventing them from becoming stained by food, drinks and tobacco
  • Strengthens your teeth

While your teeth may feel fine, it’s still important to see the dentist often because problems can creep up without you knowing. Your smile’s appearance is important, and your dentist can help keep your smile healthy and looking beautiful. Children, teens and adults should all see the dentist for a regular checkup at least once every six months. Patients who are at a greater risk for oral cancer or gum disease may be required to see the dentist more than just twice a year.

Recent studies have shown that by the age of three, a child is already at risk of having cavities which can be caused by something as innocent as putting them to sleep with a bottle of juice or milk.  Along with taking our first look at your child’s oral condition, this first appointment is also largely focused on the parents and helping them to establish a good oral hygiene program and diet for the child.

Did you know a child’s baby teeth are vital to the long-term health of their permanent adult teeth? The early loss of baby teeth can cause serious complications, including poorly spaced and crooked adult teeth.  As a result, it is just as important to care for a child’s baby teeth as it is to care for the adult teeth that follow.

Cosmetic dentistry combines both art and science to give you a healthy, aesthetic and flawless smile. While general dentistry is aimed at maintaining the health of your teeth and gums, cosmetic dentistry provides more comprehensive treatment options that improve and preserve the way your smile looks and feels.

Common cosmetic treatments include:

  • Teeth whitening
  • Contouring/tooth reshaping
  • Bonding
  • Bridges
  • Veneers
  • Dental implants
  • Tooth-colored fillings
  • Smile makeovers

A cosmetic dentist is trained to safely and effectively provide a variety of treatments that are designed to enhance your smile. If you have missing teeth, you feel that your teeth are crooked or you’re an adult looking for an alternative to braces, a cosmetic dentist can help you achieve the beautiful smile you’ve always wanted.

If you want to improve the look and feel of your smile, then any age can be a great age to see the orthodontist. Orthodontics is a specialized form of dentistry focusing on the diagnosis, prevention and treatment of dental and facial abnormalities.

Your orthodontist can straighten teeth, correct misaligned jaw structure and improve the function of your smile. Braces or other appliances are used to put gentle pressure on your teeth to move them into the right positions.

Patients who experience dental anxiety are good candidates for sedation dentistry. If you have any of the following fears or concerns, speak to our staff about sedation dentistry as an option for your next dental treatment:
